Trans-humus questions our relationship to objects and practices imbued with spirituality.
Cazalens is undertaking a new exploration of a millennia-old tradition defined by the seasonal migration of herds, embodying issues of resilience and climate adaptation.
Trans-humus invites us to rethink our relationship with adornment objects bearing protective symbols. The collection consists of brooches that revive a practice carried out by shepherds during transhumance; a cultural heritage of adorning flocks with floral ornaments believed to offer protection and prosperity to the herd.
Cazalens undertakes an anthropological approach, placing the collection at the heart of an irreducible knot with the living, questioning the fragility of the material and immaterial heritage of shepherds as well as the disappearance of knowledge about the pastoral world.
